Life Skills

Special programs offered within the Life Skills Program:

Animal Assisted Therapy-Honey is a Certified Therapy Dog who works with students throughout the school day.
Music Therapy - Don Hardy provides weekly group music therapy sessions for the Life Skills class.
Best Buddies - Is a group of Windermere students who are a chapter of best Buddies Canada. They volunteer to support other Windermere students with intellectual disabilities. The bi-monthly group activities focus on peer-support, mentorship and role-modeling. More information about upcoming events can be found on the Windermere Best Buddies Facebook page:

Each One Teach One Mentorship - (with St. George’s School)-Grade 12 students from St. George’s school are chosen to mentor students from the Life Skills class. The groups meet once a month for activities at both schools and for field trips throughout the school year.
Dance – Students go to a Dance block with Ms. Babcock.
Buddy Reading - Students from several Grade 11 and 12 English classes, taught by Mr. Tryssenaar, read to Life Skills students during silent reading time.
Taekwondo - - Taught by  two Windermere volunteers from DSA Taekwondo 2-3 times a month.
