Special Programs

Special Programs at Vancouver Technical Secondary are designed for students identified as having specific learning and/or developmental challenges. Learning goals are specifically selected and designed to meet the students' special needs and are stated in the students' Individual Education Plans. The classes have a maximum enrollment of 15 students, allowing for individual needs to be met. These students have been referred to and placed in the programs by the VSB district learning services.

Virtues Project – Literacy/Social Responsibility

Room 200 Learning Support Program students and Senior LINKS (LAC) students collaborated in volunteer Buddy Reading with K-3 students at Chief Maquinna Annex Elementary School. Our theme was Hallowe’en and the hands-on activities revolving around this theme included decorating Spider Cookies and Treat Bags. There were Face Painting and Paper Plate Ghost craft tables. Student volunteers also managed the Body Part – Mystery Box Station.
We thank our Youth and Family Workers and Community Schools Team Teacher for coordinating these activities, and we look forward to more volunteer and service opportunities in the future!
