PROGRAM FEATURES

The purpose of Templeton Mini School is to provide selected students with the best education possible so that they can reach their intellectual, personal, social, and career potential. Templeton Mini School is an academic program offering an exciting and challenging learning environment, which as been developed to meet the diversified cognitive, emotional, and social needs of our students. It is designed to develop concepts and attitudes to help students become independent, life-long learners. With a strong focus demanding concentration, effort, and dedication, the Mini School emphasizes social responsibility to school and community.

Each year in the fall, students participate in an outdoor education retreat at Strathcona Park Lodge. Templeton Mini also provides opportunities for individual classes to participate in excursions such as Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre (grade 8), Victoria (grade 10), and Ashland, Oregon (grade 11).

Teachers in the Templeton Mini work as a team to provide challenging, individual learning opportunities for all students. The intended outcome is to provide the learner with depth and breadth in their studies. 

The Templeton Mini School Parent Association, along with the Mini School Student Council, is actively involved in fostering a sense of community through social events such as the Winter and Year End Celebrations, the Chinese Dinner, and other fundraising events.

PROGRAM STUCTURE 

Grade 8: English, Social Studies, Science, Math

Grade 9: English, Social Studies, Science 9/10, Math

Grade 10: English, Social Studies

Grade 11: English, Social Studies

Grade 12: English 

In addition to these Mini School courses, students take core and elective courses through the Main School to fullfill their graduation requirements. Electives include Fine and Performing Arts, Modern Languages, Applied Skills (Home Economics, Business Education and Technical Studies) and Physical Education. All Main School courses and activites are available to Mini School students. 

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to maintain a B average for all academic courses during their five years in the Mini program and to demonstrate commitment to the program. Continued enrollment in the Templeton Mini will depend on students' ongoing performances.
