Registration Information

Registration for 2017-2018 will be accepted during office hours (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) November 1, 2016 until January 31, 2017
Parents are strongly encouraged to register their child as early as possible to ensure a space. 
Completed registrations must be accompanied by verification of the student's original birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of catchment area residency. Children who turn 5 years old by December 31 of the year of entry (2012) are eligible to enter Kindergarten. Students born outside of Canada, must first register with their parent or legal guardian at the District Reception and Placement Centre (DRPC) before they can be accepted into the catchment school. Cross boundary applications
Parents may apply cross-boundary to another school, but these applications will only be considered after all in-catchment applicants have been placed.

Vancouver schools will begin accepting cross-boundary applications from February 1st to 28th, 2017. Families who submit a cross-boundary application during this time will be informed of their child’s status by March 30, 2017.

The most common point of entry for French Immersion is Kindergarten. Students may enter in Grade 1 if space is available. Registration for Kindergarten can be found on the VSB website:  
The first step for everyone is to register with your neighbourhood English catchment school
regardless of whether you plan to send your child there or not.  The application process for the
Kindergarten French Immersion Program will be online beginning mid January. To apply, you will need your child’s Personal Education Number (PEN) which you will receive in early January IF you have registered for kindergarten at your English catchment school.  A random computer draw will
determine the successful applicants. Applicants will be notified as to placement in late February. An information session for parents/students interested in District French Immersion program at
Strathcona on January 10th @ 6:00pm in our Library. 
Priority is given in the following order
a) Siblings of catchment students who are currently enrolled AND who will continue in the French Immersion program at the same school the following year. Siblings must be registered by the February 6, 2017 deadline or will bein the draw/ wait list.
b) Catchment residents. Priority is given to catchment area students over non catchment students.
c) Non-Catchment area residents
d) Non-Vancouver residents
