Southlands school is currently an IB Candidate School and has recently submitted Application B to the International IB office. This is part of the process schools undertake in becoming a fully accredited IB school. With the submission of the application, the school will receive a visit from an IB accreditation team to review the application and the work the school has completed and is undertaking within the Primary Years Programme.

The Program of Inquiry is a “work in progress.” Teachers created the Program of Inquiry using the British Columbia provincial curriculum framed within the IB transdisciplinary themes. The specific units are being taught within the specific grades. Candidate schools are expected to teach at least 3 units at each grade level from the Program of Inquiry. In addition, students are also receiving French language instruction beginning at grade 1.
