Secord Spring Carnival

May 12th 3:30 to 8:00 pm

The Spring Carnival is back! There will be a large jumping castle, all the carnival games, where every play is a win, and our fabulous cake walk. The food bars will feature “Butchers’ beef” gourmet BBQ hamburgers, Yves’s hot dogs, Samosas and pizzas. Cotton candies and “beautiful” cupcakes will be available for treats. Come and test your agility and speed at the obstacle races, which will be set up on our field. Every child’s time will be recorded and the fastest child from each grade will be announced and awarded a prize on the following Monday. There will be a 50/50 draw for a chance to win a “pot of cash”. For the 50/50, there will also be a SECOND prize draw of a Birthday Package at Trout Lake Community Centre valued at $150! Our Toonie toss this year has over 25 gift certificates to be won along with a variety of other prizes, including toys, household goods and gift sets. If you are able to help please sign up on these volunteer links.

1.     SECORD SPRING CARNIVAL VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP: Cupcake Bakers, Bouncy Castle, Raffle, Ticket Booths, Face Painters, Set-Up Crew, Loonie Toss Game, Game Floor Patrol

2.     SECORD SPRING CARNIVAL: Food Stations, Cotton Candy, BBQ Station, Cake Donations

Although it is a school wide event, this year it is hosted by the Gr. 7 French Immersion students and their families as part of their fund raising efforts for the students’ Quebec Exchange. Therefore, the net proceeds will be shared 25% to general PAC and 75% to the Gr. 7 Quebec Exchange group. This means that the general parents are not obligated to volunteer, although your help and input would be much appreciated.

Let’s make this as fun and as memorable as can be for all our children. If you have any questions please email Amy,

Thursday May 4

Hot Lunch schedule change....just this once!

Email  If you can volunteer

May 25th Hot Lunch is being changed to an earlier date, TUESDAY, May 23rd.

As there will be no lunch service on the Thursday, May 25th, EVERYBODY will need to pack lunches for their children. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause. The reason for this change is because many of the volunteer parents for this hot lunch program are not able to volunteer on the original Hot Lunch day.

Time to start thinking about summer camp labels for water bottles, lunch boxes, and clothes!!

For the past 3 months we have been running a fundraiser with Mabels Labels at the school.  Initially, we decided to run a limited campaign, but would like to offer this fundraiser indefinitely.  This will give families the option to purchase Mabels Labels on their own time and need.

Just remember when ordering to visit:  , scroll down and click on our school name.  Secord will receive 20% on all orders placed!

Help Us Fundraise with Organic Produce!

SPUD just introduced an exciting new rewards program, built into our SPUD fundraiser. Each month, if we collectively raise at least $100, the top supporter will get a $20 credit on his or her SPUD account. (The top supporter is the person whose produce box orders have contributed the most to our fundraiser this month.)

Last month we raised $74.06 all together, so just a little more this month and we'll be there.

When you order organic produce boxes from SPUD, 25% will be donated to our school and the produce will be delivered right to your door! This applies to new and existing customers. Here is how:

1. Create an account at

2. Choose the organic produce box you want to order and add it to your cart. The boxes are listed on the SPUD Fundraising page under the Home tab (

3. At checkout, enter the promo code FUNDRAISING and select LAURA SECORD ELEMENTARY PAC from the drop down menu.

4. Complete your order. Your produce boxes and any other groceries will be delivered to your home or office.
