BC HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS                               Nov 4, 2017
Winter weather greeted 5 Point Grey runners who competed admirably at the 51st Annual BC High School Cross Country Championships at Jericho Beach Park on Saturday. Here are the results:
In the junior girls’ race, Lyndsey Bryden, our lone qualifier, had a strong performance placing 18th overall among Vancouver Public School runners. Well done, Lyndsey!
In the junior boys’ race, Judah Moar, who placed 22nd overall last year, had the race of a lifetime. Positioned in 7th place on the 1st lap, Judah found another gear on the 2nd lap that enabled him to overtake the Kelowna runner at the finish line for the bronze medal. This 3rd place finish by Judah is the best result ever by a Point Grey runner in the junior division. What an extraordinary achievement, Judah! Congratulations! Following Judah, our grade 8 speed demon, Mac Bryden, broke the tape 23rd overall among Vancouver Public School runners. A terrific effort, Mac!
In the senior boys’ race, Jonah Glover-Cook had a tremendous result as he ended up 5th overall among Vancouver Public School runners. Way to go, Jonah!
Unfortunately, our other senior boy, Tomas Chapman, who looked very strong on the 1st lap, developed a muscle spasm in his calf which forced him to drop out of the race during the 2nd lap. A gutsy effort, Tomas.
In closing, I would like to congratulate the entire cross country team for their terrific season. A special thank you to Mr. Keenlyside who photographed and cheered on our runners on Saturday. As another season comes to an end, we remain mindful of our most prized possessions. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN…for crying out loud…RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!
