 Bibliothèque/Carrefour d'apprentissage - École Secondaire Kitsilano

The Kitsilano Secondary School Learning Commons is open to all students during tutorial in the morning, from 12 noon at lunchtime (most days) and after school until at least 3:30. Students may also come in during their study block or during class with their teacher's permission.

Signing in (Library Attendance)
  • While classes are in session, all students must enter their name in the sign-in book at the entrance to the library.
  • Students who are working as a class with their teacher do not need to sign in.
How to find a book
  • Click on the KitsCAT link
  • Search by keyword, subject, author etc.
  • You need to know the "collection" and the "call number" to find the book - note it down. Please ask one of us if you need help. If the book is "checked out", you can ask that it be placed on hold for you.
How to borrow a book
  • With a GoCard - present your card and the book at the circulation desk.
  • With your student # - present your book to the teacher librarian. Tell us your name and student number.
How to use the Databases
  • Click on the KitsCAT link
  • Click on "Databases" under the "resources link.
  • For most databases, the username and password are the same. That info is printed in the library section of the student agenda. As always, ask a teacher-librarian if you need help.
Rules (actually, there is only one):
  • Please be respectful at all times. This means:
    • leave our space in as good or better condition than when you arrived - ie. don't leave a mess... push in your chair... push in your friend's chair... keep conversations at a level that allow others to work... etc
    • Do not eat in the library. You may have a covered drink, but please take care around books and technology and DO clean up after yourself.
