Graduation Requirements

Students require a minimum of 80 credits (accumulated grades 10 through 12) in order to graduate.

Required courses (48 credits) include:

  • Language Arts 10 (4 credits)
  • Language Arts 11 (4 credits)
  • Language Arts 12 (4 credits)
  • Social Studies 10 (4 credits)
  • Social Studies 11 (4 credits)
  • Science 10 (4 credits)
  • Science 11 or 12 (4 credits)
  • Mathematics 10 (4 credits)
  • Mathematics 11 or 12 (4 credits)
  • Physical Education 10 (4 credits)
  • Fine Arts or Applied Skills 10, 11 or 12 (4 credits)
  • Planning 10 (4 credits)
    1. Grade 10 Language Arts
    2. Grade 10 Science 
    3. Grade 10 Mathematics 
    4. Grade 11 or 12 Social Studies 
    5. A Grade 12 Language Arts exam – either English 12 or Communications 12 (+PROVINCIAL EXAM 40%)​

Graduation Transitions

It’s all about you! Click HERE to see this guide that walks you through the steps of completing a Transition Plan. This plan starts in Grade 10 and goes to Graduation.​


SO NOW FOR WHAT YOU MUST DO TO COMPLETE GRAD TRANSITIONS:

 

1.   DAILY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (DPA)

DPA is for GRADE 11'S AND 12'S (part of GT)

a.   Personal Health (#1 assignment)

                                              i.     Daily Physical Activity (DPA) and a commitment to fitness and physical and emotional well-being are key to healthy living. In this component of Graduation Transitions, students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and habits needed to be healthy individuals by maintaining a personal health plan and participating in at least 150 minutes of moderate/vigorous physical activity each week in Grades 10 through 12.

b.   Community Connections (#2 assignment)

                                              i.     Life after graduation includes the world of work and community responsibilities. As part of Graduation Transitions, students gain employability skills through participation in at least 30 hours of work experience and/or community service.

c.   Career and Life (#3 & #4 assignments)

                                              i.     Graduation Transitions requires students to explore personal and and career goals during their secondary school years and create a plan for life after graduation.  Transition planning is an ongoing process throughout the graduation program years and requires the completion of a transition plan, culminationg in a final grade 12 presentation.
