The annual food drive at Killarney will begin this week and
will run until December 17. The Leadership 11 class would like to briefly speak
with your classes during block 1-2 on Tuesday to explain how they will be
collecting donations this year. If it is not a convenient time for you, please
let them know a time that works.
This year, the students want to encourage monetary donations
so that the food bank can purchase in bulk and maximize the number of people in
need that they can help. As usual, each class will be competing for a pizza
party, however this year we will use a point system where the students will be
awarded 1 point for each food item and 2 points for every dollar donated. These
points will be collected for the class that they have during block 1-2. In
addition, students will receive a re-usable metal bubble tea straw if they make
a donation of $5 or more(while supplies last).
The Leadership students will also have a daily booth set up
in the front hall to collect food items so that students can drop off any bulky
donations on their way into the school in the morning.
Finally, Kristin Mattock’s class is currently featured on
the VSB website for a PSA that they created last year for the Greater Vancouver
Food Bank. Here is a link to their PSA which outlines best foods to donate.
Please feel free to share this video with your classes!
