DEC 6 - WHITE RIBBON CAMPAGIN - National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

    Dec 2, 2019

This Friday, December 6th, is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On this day 29 years ago, a man walked into a Montreal university and murdered 14 women in a tragic instance of targeted, gender-based violence.

Unfortunately, the Montreal Massacre is just one of the more shocking examples of an underlying societal issue that remains to this day.

Wearing a white ribbon is a pledge “never to commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women.” I invite all of you to join in by wearing a ribbon and spreading the message to our students that, as Canadians, we still have significant progress to make in order to put an end to gender-based violence.

The white ribbon campaign has now begun and will run until December 10, International Human Rights Day.
