Learning in today’s dynamic world is very different from the kind of learning that took place prior to the advent of the computer. Today, information is presented in multiple formats and has often neither been edited for truth or reliability. Logical organization is often lacking as well. The teacher-librarians at Gladstone work collaboratively with classroom teachers to teach students to become more effective, ethical and critical users of information using a variety of formats. Citing of all resources used, print, visual and digital, is taught using Modern Language Association format, 7th edition.
The Gladstone library collection includes print, non-print and digital resources. Students may borrow on-site resources by showing their Go Card and the loan period is two weeks. Personal circulation information can be reviewed from the “My Account” tab at <webcat.vsb.bc.ca>. Digital resources, such as databases, e-books, e-newspapers and videostreaming of educational videos are available 24/7 from any Internet-accessible computer or device. Passwords and usernames for the Digital Resources are available from the Teacher-Librarians
Our library also offers the opportunity to students to participate in their library by joining the Library Club.
