June 17, 2015 When students were asked what they would choose if they could choose anything, the majority answered cake or cupcakes, so that's what we did. A creative way to end off the year.
June 11 Test lab today. The students did not know ahead of time what the recipe would be. Turns out it was Corn Fritters with Cucumber Raita. They did well.
May 26, 2015 We started our yeast bread unit today, but tied it in with seasonal foods. Herbed veggie foccacia.

Our most recent topic is seasonal foods. Today the students made crepes with a rhubarb cream filling.
May 13, 2015 The topic for this lab was fusion foods. Today students made either Quinoa Greek Salad or Quinoa Stir-fry.
April 21, 2015 Today we had a vegetable buffet lab. Each group chose a "less common" vegetable and we had a class buffet. Students found some great new flavour combinations.

Chef Evan Danyliuk from the Art Institutes gave a presentation today. He covered Cajun style food and demonstrated Red Beans and Rice, also giving us information about his own chef training and that offered at AI.

Today was the tasting for the great Chili Cook-off. Students made the chili last period and each group tasted the other's creations today. Lots of great flavours and some groups also made cornbread. Ms. Chandler will be tallying the results as voted by each class and the trophy presentation will be next period. Stay tuned!
March 30, 2015 Today was Mexican day with enchilada stack-ups and bunuelos. The students used the salsa they made and canned in the fall.

March 2, 2015 Today quiche was on the menu. Look at these lovely little individual pies.
February 24, 2015 Today the students made meringue nests with fruit and creme Anglaise. Some very beautiful creations were piped out today.
February 17, 2015 Students researched broth-based soup recipes and each group made a different selection.
Jan. 30, 2015 Students have completed a pasta unit which included 3 labs - making fresh pasta with pasta makers, a class buffet with 7 types of Asian noodles, and Italian-style 3-cheese manicotti.

6th Annual Pumpkin Pedestal Cooking Contest November 2014
Each table of students researched and edited the recipes, then on contest day presented a sample to the judges within 45 minutes. They were judged on presentation, originality and flavour.
