Scholarship & Bursary Information

There are many scholarships & bursaries offered to graduating students.

This $1,000 scholarship is aimed at providing financial support to a Vancouver School Board student in their pursuit of post-secondary education leading to a university degree.
This educational scholarship was established by the Professional and Administrative Staff Association of the Vancouver School Board in honour of the late Phillip Paulson, Director of Planning and Facilities.  Phil is remembered by those who came to know him for the outstanding contributions he made:
·                     Phil conducted his professional and personal life in accordance with his values and beliefs.  His honesty, integrity, loyalty, caring, understanding, and willingness to help others were exemplary.
·                     Phil demonstrated leadership, creativity, vision, perseverance, and commitment to ensuring Vancouver School Board facilities meet the needs of students and staff.
·                     Phil was dedicated to helping young people, providing inspiration and an excellent role model, especially in his volunteer coaching with a variety of community sports groups.
This scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates compassion, a dedication to serving others, a commitment to the betterment of individuals or the greater society.
            Examples might include:
-       Citizenship activities
-       Service to others through volunteer work in the school or beyond
-       Personal achievements focused on supporting others
Principals, vice principals, counselors, and teachers at secondary schools in the district are asked to inform all Grade 12 students about this scholarship, and to encourage them to apply.  The completed application form should be sent via internal school mail to:

Applications now being accepting from student leaders in the province of British Columbia who will be entering their first year of post secondary education in September 2017, who are in good academic standing and that have made exceptional contributions to:
• School and community service, leadership;
• Initiating community development;
• Affecting positive change;
• Mentoring others;
• Personal development and growth;
• Good academic performance;
Taking the time to do something for others during difficult times in one’s own life requires particularly outstanding commitment. This is why, as part of the selection process, the personal circumstances and/or challenges of each applicant will be considered. Applicants who possess personal qualities such as dedication, commitment to helping others and strength of character will also be considered.
