Professional Cook Level 1

  The Vancouver School Board, in partnership with
  Vancouver Community College offer the ITA Youth TRAIN 
  in Trades Professional Cook 1 program​​
Students have the opportunity to earn both high school and post-secondary credits, while training to become a Level 1 certified ITA apprentice.
Program Details​
​​This full-time​ program is held at both Sir Charles Tupper and David Thompson secondary schools on Day 2s.  An additional four-to-five weeks of training will be held at Vancouver Community College (Pender Campus) in the summer.​
The School Board will cover the cost of tuition for t​​his program however, students are ​responsible to purchase their own books, materials and pay a fee for the summer component. A portion of the summer fee will be refunded upon successful completion of the ITA Level 1 exam (pass mark 70%+). 
Course ​Content​
Students will learn: basic food service and kitchen management; baking pastries and desserts; breakfast cookery; cold kitchen; diet and nutrition; meat and poultry cookery.
