  The Vancouver School Board, in partnership with Vancouver 
  ​Community College offer the ITA Youth TRAIN in Trades
  ​Baking an​d Pastry Arts program
Students have the opportunity to earn both high school and post-secondary credits, while training to become a Level 1 certified ITA apprentice..​
 
Program Details​
This six-month program is held at Vancouver Community College (Pender Campus). 
Classes run four days each week; Monday to Thursday from 1:00 pm to 7:15 pm and Friday is intended for work experience and/or academic classes​.
The School Board will cover the cost of tuition for t​​his program however, students are ​responsible to purchase their own books, materials and U-Pass.

Course ​Contents​
Students will learn basic baking preparation skills and take courses such as: Quick Breads, Various Pies, Puff Dough, Bread Dough, Sweet Yeast Goods, Laminated Yeast Dough, French Pastries, Cake Decorating, Ca​king Making, and Bakery Merchandising.

Requirements
  • ​FOODSAFE Level 1
  • Food Studies/Culinary Arts courses (recommended)
  • Language Arts 11
