    A message for parents and grads from your 2018 Parent Grad Committee: 
    Graduating year is an exciting time for our grade 12 students. There are many Grad events planned and the Lord Byng administration will keep you informed as the remainder of the school year unfolds. To give you an idea of what to expect, we have outlined the key events that parents organize and fundraise for. Working together with the parents of our children’s friends to plan the details and raise money to manage costs is a rewarding and enjoyable experience and we hope you will consider donating your time. Alternatively, if you haven’t the time to help with planning and preparation of grad events, we hope you will consider a cash contribution to ensure your graduate and his or her classmates enjoy a safe and unforgettable evening. Our grad donation form is attached to this email and can be sent to the school office.
    Graduation Ceremony – Friday, June 1, 2018
    This school-organized event is held at the Chan Centre at UBC. Grade 12 students are given two free tickets for their parents or guardians and there is an option to purchase additional tickets for a small fee. The Graduation Ceremony is held at 4:00 pm, with a rehearsal earlier the same day, also at the Chan Centre. All grads are expected to attend the rehearsal; this is when grad caps and gowns are distributed. 
    Dinner Dance – Friday, June 8, 2018
    This is a formal, sit-down dinner attended by the graduating students and their parents. Siblings and other guests, as well as teachers are also welcome to attend. Student’s tickets were available for purchase as part of the September school fees and will continue to be for sale through the school website. Tickets for the parents and guests will also go on sale within the month. The Dinner Dance is optional but traditionally most of the graduating class attends this dinner. This alcohol-free event is organized by parents and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Vancouver starting at approximately 5:30pm. 
    Dry Grad – Friday, June 8, 2018
    This alcohol-free celebration immediately follows the Dinner Dance. Buses take students from the Hyatt Hotel to the school where the event is held. Parents arrange this fun event as a safe way to help Grads celebrate the end of their high school years. The fully chaperoned event begins at 10:30 pm in the school gym and goes through the night until 2:30 am. The Dry Grad consists of games, activities, music and dancing; it is optional for students. Tickets were available for purchase as part of the September school fees and further ticket sales will be offered this month.
    The success of the 2018 grad events depends on the involvement of parent volunteers. A Parent Grad Committee has been formed and meetings occur on the second Tuesday of each month in room A219 at Lord Byng at 7:00 pm. This month’s meeting will be on 10th April. If you are unable to attend and would like to help by volunteering with ANY event, please send your contact information to Elizabeth Smailes ( Again, if you are unable to participate as a volunteer, please consider making a financial contribution instead through the attached donation form.

    The grads will be holding their third and final bottle drive on Sat. April 28th. Please start saving your returnable containers and bring them to the school parking lot on April 28th between 10am - 2pm. The grads thank you for supporting this important fundraiser!
