Proposed school calendar for 2019-20; 2020-21; 2021-22

The updated proposed school calendar for the next 3 school years has now been posted on the VSB website.  We work closely with our neighbouring districts to ensure alignment of dates as much as possible.

This calendar includes proposed dates for Winter Break and Spring Break for 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 - as well as proposed dates for Non-Instructional/Professional Days for the 2019-20 school year.
Should parents wish to provide any feedback, they are welcome to do so by emailing  Feedback will be received until February 15th, and will be taken into consideration when the calendar is finalized.  We anticipate that the final school calendar will be approved by the Board and published by early March.  Thank you.

Supporting Van Tech Families through Holiday Hampers

For the third year in a row, we’re organizing Holiday Hampers for our own families. The need is again quite high and we’re doing 2 more hampers than last year – 104 for this year. As part of a class competition, students and classes are collecting items and money in their Day 2 Period 1 class from Monday, December 3rd until Thursday, December 13th. We wanted to let families know that anything they donate will be staying in our school community. Like foodbanks (on a smaller scale) we keep a pantry at our school as a way of helping families throughout the year in particular times of need. Likewise, our school account allows us to organize gift cards for families in emergency situations.

The biggest help over the last 2 years has been the monetary donations which we can use to get additional supplies and supplement hampers with gift cards. This year tax receipts are available to any individual who gives $20 or more through the VSB website. It’s just like donating to any organized charity, such as the Red Cross. Any donation you make will count towards your 2018 taxes.
To donate online:
  1. Go to:
  2. Enter in your information and donation amount
  3. Select “S-Vancouver Technical”
  4. Write “Holiday Hampers” in the optional message box
We’re also accepting cash and cheques at school.  Make sure your full legal name & address are on the cheque.
