Our recent Sports Day was a tremendous display of community spirit. We were fortunate to have experienced a lovely temperate day, and students in all grades enjoyed a variety of stations encouraging movement, team work, laughs, and a lot of fun! We appreciated the goodies and lunch offered by our PAC/parent community. A huge thank you to the families who worked with us to make the day possible, all of our amazing staff members you contributed to our students’ success and fun, and to the Kitsilano Secondary Gr. 10 students who volunteered their time to plan and run the stations, and in French! All enjoyed hearing the student-prepared Sports Day cheers, and dancing to the Eye of the Tiger. The day culminated in the annual Tug-of-War in which each of the green, yellow, blue, and red colour teams had a chance to face off in a fun competition of strength and will. Team Yellow was our overall winner for the day, scoring the most points and earning a place on the coveted Tennyson Cup; that said, all of our students were incredible, and all teams did their absolute best, and fun was had by all! A big community thank you tour Grade 5 parents who ran the concession. A special thank you to the sponsors for the Sports Day event: Maple Leaf Foods for providing the all-beef wieners, Starbucks at 1758 West Broadway (Broadway and Pine location) for providing the coffee, Loblaws / Wholesale Club for providing some of the concession items, and to Sportball Vancouver for the gift certificate. Arita Barton in Division 15 was the winner of the draw for the Sportball Gift Certificate.
