Goodbye from Madame Natalie

Dear JQ Community,

It saddens me to inform you that my 15 year journey with JQ is coming to an end.  I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to grow as an educator at JQ since 2002.  My deepest connection to the school has been as a parent.  My family and I couldn’t have asked for a better learning community for our son Thomas.

Parents, I want to thank you for bringing your children to our school and trusting us with their everyday school life.  Your commitment to our programs and core vision has contributed greatly to our harmony and success.

Staff, the school’s culture is founded on multiple accomplishments and the collective effort of ALL.  You pour your passion for learning, your kindness and caring for students and we have seen our students blossom into leaders.  Thank you for always caring.

Thank you to everyone for helping me to become the school leader I am today.  I leave the school community proud and humble.

Sincerely,

Natalie

Admin. Change:  Mme Natalie has been transferred to L’Ecole Bilingue as Principal.  This is where she began her career as a kindergarten teacher in 1989.  We are pleased to welcome as new Principal, Madame Claudette Alain, as of Monday, January 8th.  Madame Alain will visit the school to meet staff and students before the winter break.

Message from the Library
Dear Parents:   Many thanks for reminding your children to bring their books back to the library by the due date. As you may know, a typical library loan period is two weeks long.  Children are also able to renew their books at any time unless someone has put a request to borrow them.

If you are unsure about your children’s library day, please ask their teacher(s).
Every division has a specific day of the week where they can come and exchange books. Every day of the week, books can be dropped off in the return bin located just outside of the main library door.  The library is also open every morning of the week from 8:40 till 9:00, except on Thursdays, unless the school requires my services somewhere else.

Thanks a million to Nina, Taylor and Jean, three wonderful parents volunteering in the library.  Thanks to Marie-Claude for your continuous support and for finding more volunteers.  Every hour spent in the library contributes to keeping it tidy and welcoming!

And last but not least, a huge thank you to the PAC for the generous financial contribution offered to JQ library this year.  These $2,000 will enrich our collection of books of both fiction and non-fiction in French and English.

Mille mercis!
Mme Fabienne
Teacher Librarian

WE Group Holiday Sale:  The JQ WE Group will be having the first annual WE Holiday Sale from 2-4pm on Monday, December 18 and Tuesday, December 19.  This will be the perfect opportunity to stock up on homemade crafts and baked goods, while also contributing to the initiative that the WE Group is supporting this year ~ Water projects in Tanzania.  We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your support.

WE Group Battery Recycling CampaignThe JQ WE Group are collecting batteries to reduce the amount of electronic waste going to landfills and help get lifesaving Zinc to those children who need it most.   Please bring in your used household batteries and leave them in the box under the PAC Table at the top of the stairs.

CongratulationsA special assembly was held yesterday for students in grades 5 to 7.  Abigail Blyth, a grade 7 student, was recognized for her volunteer work through the WE Group and awarded the prestigious Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.
The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.  It is an official Canadian honour, awarded by the Governor General and builds on the legacy and spirit of the Caring Canadian Award by honoring the dedication and commitment of volunteers.
Abigail was completely taken by surprise as she had no idea whatsoever that she had been nominated for this award.  Abigail’s proud parents were in attendance at the assembly.  Again, congratulations and well done to Abigail, you’re an inspiration to the JQ community.

PAC NEWS
Direct DonationWe have extended our direct donation deadline until next Friday, December 8th.

At this time we have less than 50% participation.   We would like to be at 100% participation.  100% participation means that you donate some money for each child that you have at the school. That money can be any amount that fits with your family. We are recommending $100 per child based on our lofty goals of enriched experience in nearly every faucet of life at school that we can. This includes: Cultural presentations, class room supplies and activities, technology equipment and programming, library books, sports equipment for lunchtime and extracurricular enjoyment, outdoor greening, community building events like family skating, subsidies so all children can participate in school events, and so on.

All donations are anonymous (only our treasurer knows) and all donations over $25 are tax deductible.

We value your time, energy and money.  Direct donation is an effort to take the least amount of your time and energy and make the most of each dollar you donate.

We have even tried to not hassle you with graphs and asks, but we are down to our very last week and would really like to go ahead with our budget as presented in June. Please do your best to participate with any amount that your family is able to.  Thank you very much for your Support!
