Sneezes & Diseases: Fall has arrived and so has the flu season. We are currently sending a fair number of students home due to illness and cold symptoms. As you know, our school district is experiencing an Educators On-Call shortage so as a staff we are trying to stay healthy in order not to take time off work due to illness. We ask that you please keep your child home if they are demonstrating sounds of discomfort or symptoms related to a possible cold. Please note that our staff is encouraging and modeling hand washing regularly.
School Fees: Payment of all school fees is now due. At the current time, the school has many outstanding unpaid fees. Mme Natalie will be following-up with all those who have not paid by the end of next week. Fees can be paid online at www.school-day.com or by cash/cheque payable to Ecole Jules Quesnel.
JQ Yearbook: It is happening! A team of grade 7 students under the guidance of Monsieur D and parent Kim Schick have begun working on this year’s book. We have decided to start collecting orders now and have posted the fee of $15.00 on www.school-day.com or payable by cash/cheque to Ecole Jules Quesnel. Order deadline will be January 26th as numbers have to be given in by early February. Don’t miss the chance to have this souvenir of your child’s school year.
Every student has their individual photo in the book and we try to capture as many students as possible on candid photos. Please start collecting any photos from field trips or school events as we would love to have them. We will let you know where to send these soon.
Cross Country: The final mini-meet will be held on Tuesday, October 10th at Balaclava Park, 4594 Balaclava Street (@ W 29th Avenue. The mini-meet will begin at 3:30 pm. Students should wear their red JQ shirts, bring weather appropriate clothing, and a small snack and water bottle. Any parent volunteers would be greatly appreciated to help marshal kids for their races. Please contact Lori at email@example.com if you can help. Our school's job is: to organize the marshaling area and bring signs for the various grades.
Library News: See what’s happening in the JQ Library in the attached Newsletter from Mme Fabienne Goulet, Teacher Librarian.
Volleyball: Students in grades 6 & 7 are invited to participate in volleyball if interested. Team-specific morning practices from 8:00 to 8:55 am in the JQ Gym will start the week of October 16. If you have not already done so, please pick up a Permission Form from Mme Haley. A game location schedule will be shared as soon as available. There will be 4 teams, Jr. Girls (Gr 6), Jr. Boys (Gr 6), Sr. Girls (Gr 7), Sr. Boys (Gr 7). Thanks to Mme Haley and her team of coaches, many JQ students are successful in the tryouts for their high school volleyball team.
Forms: Thank you to all families who have already returned their forms. Please return the package of: Verification Sheet, Health Form, Media Consent, etc. as soon as possible so that we can update your information on our database.
