Dear Parents:

Welcome to a new school year at Kerrisdale.   We hope everyone had a fun and restful summer and are ready for an exciting year.  As the new principal, I am truly excited to be joining the Kerrisdale community, working with all, of our staff, students and parents.

Our first week back is a busy week, we have scheduled Thursday for students to move into their new classes, as long as our student numbers and staffing levels have remained stable.  To help us ensure this transition happens on Thursday, we ask you if you know a family has moved away from the Kerrisdale catchment over the summer, please let the office know. Also, if your child will be away, please phone the school to report the absence as soon as possible.  Parents should leave a message on our dedicated answering service by calling 604 713 5159 please indicate the school by #41.  This will also allow us to confirm our student numbers faster.  We would really like students in their new classes by Thursday.

Wednesday, September 5, will be our first full day at school.  Students will to return to their last year’s classrooms, or classrooms assigned the first day. School begins at 9:00am and ends at 3:00pm.  Please remember to send students with a nutritional snack and lunch.  Lunch is from 12:10-12:57. Students going home for lunch need to provide the office with a note indicating that they will be going home for lunch daily.   Parents need to sign students out of the office when taking their child home for lunch.

Morning supervision begins at 8:40am.  Afternoon supervision ends at 3:20pm, please make sure that you have made arrangements with your child(ren) about when they will be arriving at school and when and where they will be picked up.

Please observe the driving and parking regulations around our school.  If you feel you need to walk your child to class, please park a block or two away and walk in.  Thirty-Ninth Avenue is for drop off and pick up only, please do not leave your car.  Please observe the speed limits zones.  U-turns and backing up are prohibited in a school zone.

Teachers will be reviewing our school Code of Conduct with our students throughout the week.  Please review the attached Code with your child as well.

A big thank you to the PAC for providing a Welcome Back coffee in the gym, today.

Again, I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Dawn Sadler
