1.      GRADE 11 STUDENTS INTERESTED IN GRAD COMMITTEE 2019-20There will be a short meeting in room 320 at the beginning of lunch on Friday, April 12th for all Grade 11 students interested in running for Grad Committee next year. 2.      ATTENTION CRAFT CLUB MEMBERSWe have changed our meeting time for the rest of this school year.  We will be meeting every Wednesday after school in room 351 (not Tuesday).  Also, there is still time to sign up for the soap making sessions.  Please see Mrs. Dowle in Room 351 by Friday, April 12.                       B. 3.      TED-ED HAMBER 2019TED-Ed Hamber will be happening next Wednesday, April 17th from 6-8 pm.  The event features talks by Hamber students and a light dinner will be provided.  Register now at tiny.cc/hamberted.                         S. Schoenfelder (12)

 

4.      HAMBER STUDENTS MAKE IT TO CANADA-WIDE SCIENCE FAIR FOR THE FIRST TIMEA HUGE congratulations go out to the Hamber students who competed in the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair on April 4-6 last week. 

Jenny Li and Judy Li achieved a bronze standing and won two awards (Society for Canadian Wemen in Science & Technology Award and the UBC Engineering Physics Award.

Wei Xei achieved a gold standing and also won two awards (Ted Rogers Innovation Award and the UBC Applied Sciences & Engineering Award).

Andy Liang and Alex Sun achieved a gold standing.

Julia Grabovac won the UBC computer Science Award.

And for the first time ever, 3 Hamber students will be competing at the Canada-Wide Science Fair in May!  A big congratulations go out to:

5.      STUDENT COUNCILNomination forms are now available for prospective Student Council members. If you want to run for Student Council for next year, pick up nomination forms in the office, and submit completed forms and submit to Ms. Mak by Monday, April 15.

TIMELINE:


        Mon. April 8                                          Nominations open.

 Mon. April 15                                        NOMINATION FORM DEADLINE to Ms. Mak in the Main Office by 3:03 pm. No late submissions will be accepted.

Wed. April 17                                       All approved candidates MUST attend a meeting on Wednesday, April 17th in the Library Learning Commons at 3:10 pm.

Mon. Apr. 22 – Mon. Apr. 26             Campaigning (posters, etc.). ALL posters must be removed by 3:15 on April 26.

        Wed. Apr. 24                                        Speeches due to Mr. Dykman (3:03 pm).

        Tues. April 30                                       Speeches.

        Weds. May 1                                        Voting.
