6. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The
Vancouver Writers Fest is recruiting volunteers for its annual celebration of
writers and the written and spoken word, October 15-21 on Granville Island. If anyone is interested in volunteering,
visit our website https://writersfest.bc.ca/get-involved/volunteer/ and click on the “volunteer jobs” link. This
will lead you to the next two pages, which have specifics on volunteer jobs,
policies/benefits and the link to online registration. Once you complete and submit the
registration through My Volunteer Page, we’ll review your registration and be
in touch with you. As Friday is a Pro-D Day, students should indicate on
their Availability page that they have Friday Oct 19th available.
Where
we need volunteers the most is the Sunday set-up and strike crews for Food
& Beverage. Shift times are: *8-11 am; *12:15-3:15 pm; *5-8 pm.
Important:
On the Qualifications page of your volunteer profile, please answer YES to the
“Can you commit to 12 hours minimum Festival Week” even though only 6 hours are
required. If anyone can volunteer for
more hours, we'd be really grateful, especially if they are available Saturday
for a 1-4pm Event and Food Prep shift and any time on Friday for possible
assignment to Box Office, Cushion Dispenser or Books shifts. Thank
you so much! We hope to hear from you soon! N. Sandhu (11)
